Description

What does the organization need?

Purpose/Objective: To assist residents with various activities to ensure their quality of life

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with activities on site
  • Assist with outings
  • Assist with various one to one activities as requested by the resident
  • Increase their socialization and the opportunity to form a relationship.

What does the organization have in place to support the volunteer?

Training: The Activities Department will assist with training all volunteers what is needed as how to implement any activities that are done.

How will this help the organization?

Impact of assignment: It will give our Residents the opportunity to meet and create meaningful relationships that will assist their day to day life. It will give Pillar the opportunity to include more individuals in activities as their will be more help for the residents to get assistance. It will allow us to save money to purchase materials needed for the Resident use. This opportunity will give Pillar the opportunity to get our name out in the community, as we have only been open just a year and a half, and give us opportunities to assist others in our community.

Benefits to volunteer: Volunteering empowers a person to utilize their people skills. It gives you the opportunity to get to know, and learn to work with individuals with various different disabilities. Volunteering can enhance your ability to see just where it is you want to go with your career. Volunteering also is self fulfilling and give you a sense of pride and happiness that you will never forget, plus develop relationships that you never thought you would have.

For the volunteer

Qualifications: 

  • Pillar has a variety of Residents here, understanding of age related illness, dementia, depression, confusion, loneliness is a plus.
  • Be able to visit with individuals and develop a meaningful relationship which will increase their social skills and give them something to look forward to and ensure a better quality of life.

Requirements: Must complete and pass a background check prior to volunteering. 

Safety protocols: Pillar will provide training and all PPE, and safety information needed for each individual.

Time: We are flexible and can work around your schedule
