Who We Are
Pillar of Cedar Valley, formerly known as Country View, is a for-profit care facility owned and operated by Pillar Senior Care. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment for residents which enhances maximum independence, dignity and quality of life. Volunteers play an important role as members of our service team, enriching the lives of residents through their involvement.
What We Do
Pillar of Cedar Valley serves individuals in need of 24-hour nursing or skilled nursing care and individuals with intellectual disabilities needing intermediate care. Volunteer assistance enables staff to increase services and broaden the social and recreational opportunities available to residents.
Country View began as a poor farm in the late 1800's. It served individuals who would otherwise be homeless due to physical or intellectual disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic abuse or unwed pregnancy. Residents worked as able on the farm and in the facility.
It was later called the Black Hawk County Care Facility, offering the residential level of care. As services in the community increased, many residents were moved into group homes or supervised apartment settings.
The facility was renamed Country View and began offering 24-hour nursing and intermediate care. Later the skilled level of nursing was added. Country View recently added a PMI (Persistently Mentally Ill) unit to meet the need for services to individuals with mental illness and behavioral symptoms.
In January 2019, the organization was again renamed, this time to Pillar of the Cedar Valley, as we are known by today.
