Purpose
Answer the telephone, greet volunteers and perform clerical duties as assigned
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls with a friendly demeanor and record requests for assistance and contact information on Reception Slip
- Maintain a positive attitude with staff, volunteers and clients
- Screen clients to determine in they are in our service area and if we can meet their needs
- Briefly explain our intake process
- Refer clients to appropriate agencies and organizations if the service requested is not provided by Love INC
- Screen donation requests and collect contact information from donors
- Greet visitors and direct connect them with the appropriate staff members
- Accept package deliveries
- Maintain a log of client calls
- Check voicemail messages
- Maintain client confidentiality
- When needed, help with administrative and filing duties
- Keep volunteer time record
- Communicate planned absences with the Clearinghouse Coordinator
Qualifications
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Apostles’ Creed
- Ability to treat every client and volunteer with dignity and without discrimination
- Friendly telephone and communication skills
- Ability to to stay calm under pressure and juggle answering multiple phone calls
- Ability to to listen compassionately while also keeping calls brief to keep the phone lines open
- Ability to write legibly
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively
- Reliable and dependable
- This position may work from home, if client has a trustworthy cell phone and internet access and is comfortable using Google Hangouts App to communicate with the coordinator
