Purpose/Objective:
The person filling the position of Field Trip Assistant will serve as a member of the Education Team at the Cedar Falls Historical Society by facilitating field trips at our three historic museums. Field trip volunteers support our mission of educating people about and celebrating the history of Cedar Falls.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: welcoming field trip visitors, teaching about the respective field trip topic/s, answering questions, and supervising field trip visits.
Shifts are 1-5 hours long (between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm) depending on the field trip), during the school week--Monday through Friday. Field trips occur beginning in September through mid October, and again starting in mid April through May.
Knowledge of Cedar Falls history is a plus, but not a requirement. Training will be provided.
Qualifications:
• Experience with school-age children
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Friendly and helpful attitude
• Reliability and responsibility are essential
• Enthusiasm for, and ability to communicate about, the history of the the respective museum building/s
• Volunteers age 18 and older are welcome
• Volunteers must complete the field trip assistant training orientation to volunteer in the position
• Availability to assist during school hours is essential
Leadership Opportunity:
Serving as a field trip assistant for the Cedar Falls Historical Society also means serving as an ambassador and advocate for the museums and the organization, in the greater community.
