Purpose/Objective:
The person filling the position of Cedar Falls Historical Society Board Member will help manage the affairs of the organization. Board members support our mission of educating people about and celebrating the history of Cedar Falls, and advocating for the organization in the greater community.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include any or all of the following: attendance at monthly meetings, fund raising, general upkeep, weekend hosting, event planning, volunteer recruitment, and offering assistance in areas of personal and professional expertise.
We expect those who are interested in serving on the board to become supporting "Friends" members of the Historical Society.
We expect board members to volunteer beyond the monthly meetings.
Qualifications:
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Friendly and helpful attitude
• Reliability and responsibility are essential
• Availability to attend to attend regularly scheduled Board meetings
• A passion for history and/or Cedar Falls history and/or the Cedar Falls Historical Society and its mission
• A general understanding of, and an ability to communicate, the Cedar Falls Historical Society’s mission, vision, values
• A willingness to advocate for the Historical Society in the greater community
Board members will complete a "new board member training and orientation session". Onboarding new board members will begin in May. If interested, please contact the Cedar Falls Historical Society by the end of April.
Leadership Opportunity:
Board members help manage the affairs of the Cedar Falls Historical Society. Serving as a Board member also means serving as an ambassador and advocate for the museums and the Cedar Falls Historical Society, in the greater community.
*The new board year begins in July. Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month.
