We are asking community members and organizations to join Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls for a blanket tying event.
All supplies to make Wrapped In A Hug fleece-tie blankets will be provided.
What is Wrapped In A Hug?
In 2020 Covid brought volunteerism to an abrupt halt, but that didn’t stop the ladies in Junior League. At that time, local school partners informed Junior League that mental health was the largest concern amongst local teens. Over many zoom calls, the ladies of Junior League decided to make tie blankets with mental health resources “wrapped” inside and called the project Wrapped In A Hug. This was originally intended to be a “one and done” project, but in 2022 Junior League was asked by community partners when they were going to bring it back. In 2023 Junior League’s Wrapped In A Hug project provided 500 Cedar Valley teens with a homemade tie blanket and mental health resources. Junior League has already started making blankets for Wrapped In a Hug with the goal of having the project "wrapped up" by December 2024. Each blanket costs Junior League approximately $20.
