Who We Are

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its Mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

What We Do

Founded in 1865 by William Booth, was started as a ministry to those who lived in the slums of the east end in London. In a short period of time Booth's ministry expanded beyond the borders of London and by 1880 The Salvation Army had expanded to the United States. The Salvation Army has been doing God's work in Waterloo/Cedar Falls for over 120 years.

That ministry has expanded to include services such as: a Daily Meal Program, a Youth Center, Emergency Assistance, Emergency Disaster Assistance, a Family Thrift Store, a Men's Emergency Shelter and a Women and Children's Emergency Shelter.
