St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Preschool & Childcare

MISSION: All in God’s name - loving, serving, welcoming, is the mission of St. Timothy Lutheran Church and the congregation strives to be a community resource that extends Christian care locally and globally because of the love of God. St. Timothy Lutheran Church views their support of St. Timothy Preschool & Childcare as one of the many ways the congregation fulfills its mission and vision. St. Timothy Preschool & Childcare understands that parents are a child's first teacher, and St. Timothy Preschool & Childcare strives to be a partner with parents, helping them raise children that have social-emotional skills as well as cognitive skills so that these children may be successful in school and in life.

HISTORY: St. Timothy Preschool & Childcare began providing year-round services to children aged 3 to 11 years on August 19, 2019, and became the only childcare center in Hudson. In August of 2019, St. Timothy P&CC opened with 20 children enrolled in it program and was licensed for 30 children. In early 2022, because of COVID, the center experienced a 12-week closure and reopened to essential worker families in June of 2020. By September of 2020, enrollment had grown to 33 children and the DHS Licensing had increased to 45. In September of 2021, the center served 50 children each day.
In March of 2021, St. Timothy P&CC was awarded a $149,089 grant to renovate the restrooms, a classroom and install a fire alarm system. St. Timothy P&CC began serving children between 18 to 35 months of age, and increased its DHS licensing for a second time, from 45 to 75 children, in January of 2022. In September of 2022, enrollment continued to increase, had maximized its capacity of 75 children and had begun a waitlist for openings. Also, in September of 2022, St. Timothy P&CC implemented a full-service meal program that prepared and served breakfast, lunch, and snacks to all of the children while at the center.
Additionally, in January of 2022, St. Timothy received another state funded grant in the amount of $335, 814 to purchase some food service items and to install a much-needed playground. The playground construction began in the fall of 2022 and in the Spring of 2023 the playground installation will be completed.

St. Timothy Preschool & Childcare serves families of all faiths and backgrounds from Hudson and the surrounding area and is the only childcare center in Hudson. St. Timothy P&CC focuses on providing a loving childcare, in a family friendly environment, that supports the growth of the whole child in developmentally appropriate ways. It is strengthened by the relationships with the families being served and collaborates with several partners within the community to provide various services that enrich and support this center.

St. Timothy P&CC provides year-round full or part-time childcare and educational services to children 18 months to 11 years of age, Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Because St. Timothy Preschool & Childcare is a ministry of a faith-based community, caring for the whole child, respecting others, respecting our environment, both internal and external, and loving our neighbor are a continual part of a child’s day. Daily prayer is incorporated into the daily schedule, especially before meals, along with monthly chapel visits with the pastor. Intergenerational activities with people of faith is another advantage of being part of a larger faith-based community. During the school year St. Timothy P&CC offers Preschool to children aged 3, 4 & 5 years each weekday morning from 8:05 - 11:05am. Additionally, with support from Central Rivers Area Education Agency (AEA) Special Needs Associates, some of the staff at St. Timothy P&CC have been trained in ways to accommodate the needs of children with identified disabilities. Year-round childcare is provided to these children at St. Timothy P&CC, but during the school year, preschool children with an identified disability receive special learning services at Hudson CSD preschool in the morning and then in the afternoon attend St. Timothy P&CC for childcare.

St. Timothy P&CC provides outside of school hours care to children who attend Kindergarten through 5th grade. Outside of school care includes before and after school, school closures, holiday breaks and summer vacation. Hudson CSD transports children to and from the school. The summer vacation program offers days filled with fun, age-appropriate activities that go along with summer units, participation in the library summer reading program, walks to Hudson City Park and Pirates Cove Splash Pad, swimming at local pools, and a weeklong STEM/STEAM camp.
