Join the University of Northern Iowa along with Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa Food Bank for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event in the UNI-Dome!
Shift is from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. on January 19, 2026. Participants will help package food packs for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in support of their “Backpack Program”. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank's BackPack Program serves over 3,440 students each week in 155 schools across northeast Iowa. Before school lets out for the weekend, children receive assembled bags of kid-friendly meals and snacks that can fit in their school bags.
How to register for this event:

If you do not have a VCCV account, you will need to create one to register!
Individuals: Click the "Respond" button in the upper right-hand corner.
Groups: Click the "Respond as a Team" button in the upper right-hand corner. If you register as a team, please include the first and last name of each team member along with their email address. ***LIMITED TO GROUPS OF 25 OR SMALLER PER SCHOOL DISTRICT/BUSINESS/ORGANIZATION***
Families: Click the "Respond as a Team" button in the upper right-hand corner. Please include the first and last name of each family member and include one contact person's email address.
You will have the opportunity to add names of participants at a later date if you aren’t sure who will be attending yet.
The team leader (person who registers the team) will be "electronically signing" a waiver on behalf of all members. You do NOT need to bring signed waivers to the event. If your team members would like to receive a copy of both waivers before giving the team leader consent contact Lauren Finke at lauren@vccv.org.
Non-perishable foods and money will be accepted at registration for the University of Northern Iowa's Panther Pantry.
