For those interested in gaining experience in a warehouse setting, this volunteer opportunity is perfect for you. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank is looking for individuals to assist with basic support in the warehouse.

Hours Vary | 8:00 am-4:30 pm hours are available. 

You must wear closed toe shoes.

Get your hands in the dirt and help our gardens grow! General Garden Volunteers assist with a variety of seasonal tasks, including weeding, planting, mulching, deadheading, and basic garden maintenance. No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn and a love for the outdoors. This is a great way to stay active, meet fellow plant lovers, and make a visible impact on the beauty of the Arboretum. All tools and guidance provided!

Help us keep the Cedar Valley Arboretum looking its best! We're seeking volunteers to assist with mowing and general lawn care throughout the growing season. Whether you have experience with riding mowers or are just willing to learn, your time and effort will make a big difference in maintaining our beautiful grounds. Training and equipment are provided.

Flexible scheduling is available!

*You will be given your own section of the land that will be your responsibility to mow.*

Adult volunteers are needed to count cash, clean pens and feed animals. This could require lifting up to 20 pounds. This person should be able to assist guiding teen volunteers and general grounds keeping. A major part of this job is to interact with people coming to visit, both young and old.

A mandatory orientation to be scheduled.

Adults should be proficient in making change and interacting with people. Zoo t-shirts will be provided and are expected to be worn.

Volunteers should commit to routine days and times and attend when expected. Dress accordingly during hot weather. 

Teen volunteers are needed to clean pens and feed animals. This could require lifting up to 20 pounds. This person should be able to assist with daily chores and general grounds keeping. A major part of this job is to interact with people.

One adult will be paired with 3-4 volunteers.

Tuesday – Thursday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Friday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Sunday Noon – 4:00 p.m.
Closed on Mondays

We are looking for companions to sit and spend time with our residents. We would like our companions to be able to conversate with our residents and be able to learn about their likes and dislikes. 

Love nature and enjoy meeting people? Become a volunteer ambassador at the Arboretum! Help us in the gift shop with sales, memberships, restocking, guest check-ins, and even leading occasional tours. Ambassadors also have the opportunity to assist in light marketing to help spread the word about events, classes, and donation & sponsorship opportunities. Flexible shifts, a beautiful setting, and a chance to support our green spaces - what could be better?
