Needs From: Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley

We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys wonderful items and helping customers!  Our fabulous gift shop in Waterloo needs you to help find the perfect item for someone.  We will help you get familiar with our products and will train you on the register.  Plus, volunteers get a 20% discount!!!

Do rounding on all patient floors to check for fall hazards.  Complete report of all rooms and note any concerns.

We are looking for someone with military experience (active or retired) who would be willing to meet with other military patients while they are recovering in the hospital.  Whether it is to just say hello, or to sit down and exchange stories, we want to support our military hero's any way we can.

Greet and escort patients and visitors as they enter the Health Plaza.  Assist with locating where they need to go.  Provide a wheelchair if needed.  Answer general questions.

Following a specific route throughout the hospital, volunteers assist with mail pickup and delivery and pickup/deliver lab specimen's as needed. Cedar Falls location only.

For both Waterloo and Cedar Falls locations.  Greeting patients and visitors with a warm smile and a "how can I help you today"!  Assisting them with where they need to go, obtaining room numbers to those they are visiting or offering a wheelchair if needed.  Simply providing outstanding customer service! 

Serves as a representative and friend to patients, their families and visitors; clarifies perceptions while focusing on underlying issues, needs and interests of the patient and family. The objective of this program is to enhance and increase the frequency of patient contacts to improve the patients experience and satisfaction as well as help with the early identification and resolution of patient conflict. A mature, service oriented individual with the ability to convey a positive image is necessary. Volunteers must be able to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and staff. Should be able to take initiative and make quick decisions in an emergency situation. High degree of personal responsibility and able to solve practical problems and work without constant supervision
