Volunteers will assist with many tasks required by putting on a 5k race event at George Wyth State Park. This is a 3.1 mile run/walk with the proceeds going to the Magical Mix Kids. This non-profit raises money to provide terminally ill children and their families in the Cedar Valley a family vacation to Disney World.
Volunteer Opportunities include:
1-2 Volunteers to come early to set up signs, cones and water station along the route. Set up tables and tents. This is a walking/labor assisting position although it will not be intensive.
1 volunteer to come at 8 a.m. to assist with registration, packet pick up and giving out tshirts. This postion can be sitting.
1 volunteer good with kids to help with the kids race - noting the finish times.
1 person needed at the very end of the race to follow the last person over the start/finish line. This person must be able to go at a fast pace for 3 miles. This could be someone that can walk fast or even someone on a motorized device.
3 people needed on the route in one designated spot to hand out water at the first aid station. This location is a little over a mile into the race and would require someone to walk on trail to get to the spot.
1 volunteer needed at the end of the route to hand out water bottles. This person could sit in a chair if they needed to.
2-3 people to assist with food preparation, setting out food, plates, etc. This person may help the Griller with putting food into a hot pan and handing out chips and drinks and making sure everything is stocked.
5 Cheerleaders - We would like as many people as possible towards the last 1/2 mile of the race to cheer on the runners/walkers. People that don’t mind walking can go further down the line. Otherwise just people to stand at the very end of the race and on the beach for positivity.
