Description

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank will be partnering with the U.S. Postal Service on Saturday, May 12th to help with their Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Last year Cedar Valley residents donated over 50,000 pounds of food to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank! We hope for an even bigger and better turn out this year!

In order to get this food to those in need, we have a number of volunteer opportunities. All volunteer openings are family and group friendly! This is a great time to introduce your kiddos to volunteerism or spend some time with friends.

Here are the volunteer opportunities:

  • 8:30-11:00 a.m. - Food Pickup/collection. Volunteers will meet at the Waterloo Main Post Office to pick up a route to drive and pick up food. Act like a mail carrier and pick up the donated food from people's mailboxes. Volunteers will need to supply their own vehicle, with a van or truck recommended. 2-3 people will need to be in each vehicle.
  • 1:00-3:30 p.m. - Receiving & sorting donations - volunteers will be stationed at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank to help unload donations and sort it for distribution.
  • 3:30-5:30 p.m. - Receiving & sorting donations - volunteers will be stationed at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank to help unload donations and sort it for distribution.
