If you are a military history buff and especially military consider volunteering at the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum to assist children in learning about “The Forgotten War”, fought in North and South Korea from 1950-1953, during Weekly Wonders at the Grout Museum District.
- Visitors will explore the causes of the Korean War
- Visitors will look into how Cold War politics affected the conflict, leading to involvement from the United States, China, and the Soviet Union.
- Visitors will discover what the war might have been like for those fighting it, including jet fighters confronting each other for in air-to-air combat for the first time.
- Visitors will explore our temporary exhibit opening July 14th “The Cold War Ablaze: Iowans in the Korean War” while visiting Weekly Wonders on Friday
