Join us for a fulfilling day building homes alongside Habitat homebuyers in our community! No prior experience necessary. All equipment is provided, and a site supervisor will show you what to do. 

A few things to know:
1. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on the construction site.
2. Children under the age of 18 cannot engage in hazardous activities such as roofing, being on ladders or using power tools.

Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity needs teams of 4-8 volunteers to assist with construction.

Tasks: (will vary depending on our stage of construction)

Capping foundations Framing walls Sheeting walls Roof trusses & shingles Siding Windows Doors Insulation Drywall Flooring Trim Cabinets & Counter-tops Painting Etc.

Qualifications: 

Friendly and helpful attitude. Self-motivated. No experience is necessary.

 
Requirements:

Tuesday-Thursday

8:30am – 3:30pm (with 30 minute lunch break)

Obtain payment for goods by itemizing and totaling customer’s purchases and provide service to customers before, during and after a purchase.

‍No prior volunteer experience is necessary for this volunteer opportunity.

Tasks Collects payments by accepting cash or charge payments from customers; making change for cash customers. Enters price changes by referring to special sale bulletins. Answer the phone. Schedule donation pick-ups. Complete donation intake forms. Assist ReStore staff with returned items. Qualifications Excellent interpersonal skills. Friendly and helpful attitude. Willingness to help a diverse customer base. An ability to count back cash change. Self-motivated. Outgoing personality. Willingness to help a diverse customer base. A general understanding and an ability to communicate Habitat’s mission. Prior cashier experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements Volunteers must complete the ReStore orientation to volunteer in the position. Additional cashier and guest services training is required. Volunteers age 18 and older are welcome. A criminal history check is required for this position. Shifts

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore needs flexible volunteers who will jump in and help as needed.

Tasks: (will vary with each volunteer opportunity but may include the following)

Provide general assistance to customers. Maintain organization and cleanliness of aisles and merchandise. Complete donation intake forms. Unloading and staging donated items. Inspect, clean and test incoming donations. Package and label incoming donations. Stocking the sales floor. Disassemble items for recycling. Dispose of materials as needed. Qualifications:
Friendly and helpful attitude. Willingness to help a diverse customer base. Self-motivated. Outgoing personality. To act as the face/ambassador for Habitat for Humanity. Ability to lift 25 pounds/team lift when necessary. Ability to work in a warehouse environment. Ability to stay on your feet for an extend period of time. No prior volunteer experience is necessary.  
Requirements:
Volunteers must complete the ReStore orientation prior to volunteering. (Offered several times a month). Volunteers age 14 and older are welcome.
