Who We Are
Safe Routes Iowa Northland Region oversees the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs serving schools and communities in six counties of Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Buchanan, Grundy and Chickasaw. The SRTS approach promotes youth and families to increase walking and bicycling to school and in everyday trips through infrastructure improvements, enforcement measures, safety education, and encouragement events.
What We Do
Safe Routes to School Volunteers work with SRTS Coordinators at select school and community based programs to increase youths skills and knowledge to safely bike and walk to school.
Volunteer needs range from single day events to weekly sessions in the spring and fall.
